I made this mixed media piece from the paper bag packaging from a store in…I don’t know.. Prague, maybe? My mother was on a European river cruise and gave me a gift that was inside this bag.
I’ve also had an old film canister full of little tin foil stars for decades, and they immediately came to mind when I thought about turning this paper bag into a complete scene. The dark velvet sky with twinkling stars and spots of gold ink. In the windows, I added the yellow for interior lights.
I had a phrase stuck in my mind overnight, that seems to belong with this piece, “we bustle about as though none of this will come to end some day.”
The print in the photo is a test. Yours will have a border, come on better quality paper, and be signed at the bottom.
